How Kids Can Manage Their Feelings!

Tips on how kids might manage their feelings

Today, I will talk about how kids can maintain their feelings in certain situations. I must fly to my mum’s because my mum lives in Armidale, and the last time I did that was on Mother’s Day, 2024. I don’t like flying on planes and wish I could live with Dad full time. I wished they still lived together. When I went down to my mum’s for Mother’s Day, I cried the whole way because I missed Dad and wanted to stay with him. When I got to Mum, I was still crying and could not stop and was making myself all worked up over nothing.

Getting upset makes it worse

After I called my dad and said hi, he said to me to stay positive and think of all the good times we had together that helped. When I get upset about going on the plane, it makes my tummy Hurt, and I cry even more because my tummy hurts. When I get worked up, I try to calm myself down by using strategies like reading a book, taking 10 deep breaths in and out, lying down and relaxing, and doing some drawing. Some children can get upset from being tired, hungry, or uncomfortable. They also could be annoyed at a sibling when they do something like take the iPad off them so they can use it themselves.

This app will stop your child from getting upset

There is a great app that my dad introduced to me if any parents have any issues. It’s called The Happy Children, and it has many tips on many different things; I suggest you sit down with your parents to read this. On Monday the 13th of May, I flew from Armidale on the 6:30 am plane, and we had to get up at 4:30 am when we checked in at the airport and everything, when we checked in after a while, I felt sick, so I went to the toilet and vomited. Mum told me it was because I was nervous to go on the plane.

The final steps to managing your emotions

But once I got to Dad’s, I stayed off school because I was crying and had a sore tummy. Having the day off made me adjust and feel better. Then the next day, I felt like it was going to be a great day at school, seeing all my friends and seeing my teacher. Eating unhealthy can also upset you the next day because you had no vegetables the other day.  To stop your child from getting angry or upset, comfort them by giving them a hug and talking to them to distract them from getting upset, or you could talk about their day at school. If they don’t like you talking to them, don’t give them any attention; just ignore them. If your child gets upset often, maybe you can take them to therapy, and they can help them and talk to them about some strategies they can use when they feel upset Like my cousins, I am letting you know that some children can cry over nothing. I hope this helps with your children 😊😉PS: hope you enjoy Happy Child app. Hope it helps your child from getting worked up and sad or upset about something that’s going on.
